Information you provide:

• Email address — optional, when you request case updates, a magic link, or recall alerts
• Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
• Vehicle information: year, make, and model
• State where the vehicle was purchased or is registered
• Repair and warranty information: number of repair visits, days out of service, warranty status
• Defect description — free text you enter, used for AI classification
• Mailing address — only if you purchase a certified demand letter

Information collected automatically:

• IP address and standard browser/device identifiers (server logs)
• Display theme preference — stored in your browser's localStorage; never transmitted to our servers

We use the information you provide to:

• Screen your vehicle for potential lemon law eligibility and generate a case score
• Prepare and send a certified demand letter to your vehicle's manufacturer, if you purchase this service
• Send transactional emails: magic links, case status updates, and — if you subscribe — NHTSA recall alerts for your VIN
• List your case in anonymized form on the LemonIQ attorney marketplace, if you choose to escalate

AI Processing. Your vehicle information and defect description are processed by an artificial intelligence system (powered by Anthropic's Claude models) to classify the defect category and assess case eligibility. This processing is automated. AI-generated results are probability-weighted estimates, not legal conclusions.

NHTSA API. Your VIN is submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's public vehicle database to retrieve open recall and complaint records. This is a U.S. federal government API; NHTSA's own privacy practices govern how they handle API requests.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share your information only as follows:

• Attorney marketplace. If you escalate your case, a stripped, anonymized version of your case file — with no name, address, or direct contact information — is listed for law firms to review. Your personal contact information is shared with a law firm only after they express interest and you provide explicit consent.
• Certified mail delivery. If you purchase a demand letter, your name, mailing address, and vehicle information are shared with Lob, Inc., our certified mail partner, for USPS letter delivery.
• Payment processing. Payment card information is processed directly by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your card number. Stripe's privacy policy governs their data handling.
• AI processing. Your defect description and vehicle information are transmitted to Anthropic, Inc. for AI-assisted classification. Anthropic's privacy policy governs their data handling.
• Legal compliance. We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process.

We retain your case data for a period sufficient to support ongoing lemon law proceedings — typically up to three (3) years from the date of your last activity on the platform. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 6).

LemonIQ does not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

We use your browser's localStorage to remember your light/dark display preference. This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Request deletion of your information from our systems
• Opt out of marketing or recall-alert emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email we send

LemonIQ is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us immediately at admin@citrusengine.ai.

We use industry-standard security measures — including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), hashed credentials, and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date. Your continued use of LemonIQ after the posted effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
